Yay! I drew Set (or Seth) the Egyptian god of chaos, storms, wind, the desert, forign nations, and other good stuff. Despite his sometimes negative light, I never really saw Set as such a bad guy... more like necessary chaos and the "yin" when you consider the Taoist role Egyptian mythology can sometimes take. Like when things get too comfortable he balances things out with a good dose of violence and mayhem.
Anyhoo, his costume has a lot to do with his chaos theme and his role with foriegners. The "spell" he's casting is represented in the chaos star, and if you look closely you can see the symbol in his belt and face makeup. His costume is only vaguely Egyptian, and instead pays homage to the Hittites with his stripped mail shirt, and to Hyskos with his crown. As for Set himself, I realize that everyone has their own idea of what he's supposed to look like and what animal he's supposed to be... this is my version (taking some cues from Hockey Raven too, since I liked her depiction). I also found out that he's supposed to have red hair, I'll try to include that next time.
I like the egyption theme you got going here. it's real cool seeing the old gods in your style.

Friggin sweet, your skills with color media impress me to this day. I'm just now getting back in touch with the spectrum myself, mayhap you can take a peek at my upcoming uploads and give me some pointers some time?

First off, awesome pic. The whole feel of it is totaly great.
Second, I'd have to totally agree with you that Set's not that bad a guy. Without him, we would all die, or so the myths go. He's the one who kills the evil snake Apophis every night. He's the only god strong enough to do it and the only one willing to try.
Sure he killed his brother, fought his other brother, tried to kill his nephew, and attempted to rape his sister. How is that different from Zeus (who's generally viewed as a good guy) who killed his father, many of his titan siblings, ate his own children and raped and/or killed many human women?
*^_^* Go you for seeing the good in him.

hehe thanks, and yeah, not only all that but seeing how gods are immortal things like murder probably look more like a passing anoyance to them, in fact they probably laugh about it now.
